Communal TV Aerial Systems
A communal TV system provides TV signals to a number of users from a single set of aerials and/or dishes. This is often used in blocks of flats and small numbers of houses where the planning constraints prevent having aerials or satellites attached to your roof. There are two main methods use - MATV and IRS Systems. Both systems have the ability to carry video from security cameras and door entry systems, as well as internet and email.
IRS Systems
IRS systems carry satellite signals as well as signals through an aerial. It gives users a choice but has a higher setup cost.
MATV systems
MATV systems carry analogue and digital television signals through an aerial as well as FM radio and DAB but it cannot carry satellite signals. So for users who want the option for satellite TV, its better to install an IRS system.
There are also other alternatives including Cable TV services, Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and Multi Distribution Box.
